About Yoga for People with Parkinson’s Disease

Parkinson’s Disease narrows the body’s dynamic range (in all sorts of different ways for each individual), and these classes push you to explore where you can expand your range and give you more access to the life you already love.

Our classes are safe and challenging. We do much of the yoga in a chair or standing using the chair as support depending on your mobility. No matter where you start, you can expand your capacities in subtle and dynamic ways.

People with Parkinson’s and their spouses often take the classes together and benefit from them together! Feel free to join us if you are a spouse or caregiver, and contact me for a discounted caregiver price. It can often be motivating if both members of a couple are doing the exercise together.

History Of The Program

Peter Lynch took over teaching the Yoga for People with Parkinson’s program in 2011. He teaches to a variety of communities in the Seattle area 5 days a week. With grants from the American Parkinson’s Disease Association (APDA) and partnership with UW Northwest Hospital, Northshore Senior Center and UW Valley Medical Center, the classes have served hundreds of folks with PD and their spouses in the Northwest since 2005 when the program was started by Tim Seiwerath.

With the advent of the COVID-19 virus, Peter has expanded his online classes to reach out to anyone (and their family members) in the world looking to benefit from a practice of challenging mindful movement tailored to Parkinson’s-specific needs.
